Family members sentenced to life in prison in U.S. cyberstalking case
A U.S. man and his sister were sentenced
to life in prison on Thursday for cyberstalking that led
to the shooting death of the man's former wife and her
friend in a Delaware courthouse lobby ahead of a
contentious child custody hearing.
David Matusiewicz, his sister Amy Gonzalez and his
mother Lenore were convicted in U.S. District Court in
Delaware last July of cyberstalking resulting in death,
the first successful application of federal law on the
offense, prosecutors said. They were also found guilty
of conspiracy.
Matusiewicz and Gonzalez were sentenced to life by
U.S. District Judge Gerald McHugh on Thursday, the
U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Delaware said.
Matusiewicz's mother was sentenced to life at her
bedside last week at Jefferson Medical Center in
Philadelphia, federal prosecutors said.
"This ground-breaking prosecution and investigation
shows people who actively take part in planning
crimes, even though they don't pull the trigger, will be
held accountable," said Kevin Perkins, special agent in
charge of the FBI in Delaware.
On Feb. 11, 2013, David Matusiewicz and his father
Thomas went to confront David's ex-wife Christine
Belford at New Castle County Courthouse when she
arrived for a child support hearing in their custody
case.
Thomas Matusiewicz then shot dead Belford and her
friend Laura Mulford in the courthouse lobby and took
his own life after exchanging gunfire with police.
The shooting was the culmination of a four-year
campaign of letters, websites and Internet postings to
"stalk, harass, and intimidate" Belford, the mother of
David Matusiewicz's three children, according to U.S.
prosecutors.
They said David Matusiewicz orchestrated the plan and
recruited his parents and sister while serving a 48-
month jail term for abducting his children and hiding
out with them for 19 months in Nicaragua and other
countries.

General Overseer.
Bankole, while defending the choice of Volleyball
and Futsal games for the celebration said it is to
underscore the the importance of the game of
volleyball to the General Overseer, who played and
coached the sport while he was at the University.
He said aside the economic and health importance
of these games, Futsal and foot volley can be easily
played by everyone, everywhere - outdoor and on the
grass.
“Our G. O played volleyball and also became
volleyball coach when he was at the University of
Lagos for his Masters. At 74 he is still active. He
still talks and demonstrates some skills even in

veteran diplomat Boutros Boutros-Ghali, holding a
funeral procession with top honors in the capital, Cairo,
followed by a service at the nation's largest Coptic
cathedral for the man who was the first U.N. chief
from Africa.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi led the
procession, walking at the front of the cortege as a
horse-drawn hearse carried Boutros-Ghali's flag-draped
coffin. The head of Egypt's Coptic Church attended the
service in Cairo, along with senior dignitaries.
Eulogizing Boutros-Ghali, the Coptic patriarch, Pope
Tawadros II, said Egypt was bidding "farewell to this
fine example in Egyptian life and in Egyptian history."

Rihanna delays tour after illness
Rihanna delayed the start of a world
tour days after the R&B star missed the Grammys,
citing an illness that affected her voice.
The first scheduled show on Rihanna's "Anti" tour is
now March 12 in Jacksonville, Florida, according to her
website and notices from venues.
Rihanna had previously been due to open the tour on
February 26 in San Diego, but has postponed eight
shows.
The singer abruptly canceled a performance on Monday
at the Grammys, the music industry's top awards.
Her representative said at the time that the Barbados-
born singer had fallen ill and was under doctor's orders
to rest her vocal cords to avoid permanent damage.
A representative did not immediately respond to a
request for comment Thursday.
Rihanna is scheduled to end the tour on August 12 in
Zurich.
The Barbados-born singer toured extensively in 2013
and then briefly the following year with Eminem, but
had since kept a lower profile.
She returned to the scene last month with "Anti," her
first full-length album since 2012.
Three soldiers get life for I.Coast military chief's murder
A military court in Ivory Coast on
Thursday sentenced three soldiers loyal to ex-president
Laurent Gbagbo to life in prison over the 2002 murder
of a former junta leader.
General Robert Guei was shot dead on September 19,
2002, during a failed coup against Gbagbo's regime.
His wife, several members of his family and his
personal guards were killed that same day.
Guei had led a military junta that ruled the west African
nation from December 1999 to October 2000, when
Gbagbo defeated him at the polls.
Following a trial that last nearly a month, the court-
martial found ex-security chief Anselme Seka Yapo
guilty of murder, while Gbagbo's former Republican
Guard commander Brunot Dogbo Ble as well as
sergeant Daleba Sery were ruled to have acted as
accomplices.
Of the 19 defendants on trial over the murder, six were
sentenced to 10 years in prison. The others were
acquitted.
During the trial, prosecutors accused Seka Yapo of
firing the fatal shot.
Lawyers for the defence have said they intend to
appeal the verdict, citing a lack of evidence of their
clients' guilt.
"I am disappointed but not discouraged," said lawyer
Modeste Abie. "We believe that our clients do not
deserve life terms."
Seka Yapo was last year already sentenced to 20 years
in prison for murder committed during the country's
post-election crisis in 2010-2011.
Dogbo Ble was sentenced in 2012 to 15 years in jail for
complicity in the murder of a retired officer, and last
year to another 20 years for his role in the 2010-2011
violence.
Some 3,000 people were killed after the disputed
presidential vote in late 2010, when Gbagbo refused to
relinquish power after being narrowly defeated in his
bid for re-election.
He is currently on trial at the International Criminal
Court in The Hague for crimes against humanity over
the violence.

February 14 at 5, Olanrawaju St., Agege.
Aigbokhan told the court that the accused went to
his friend’s house, but that the friend was not
around; that he met the girl in the house and raped
her.
Aigbokhan said: “The victim, who is an orphan,
screamed but no one in the house came to her
rescue, except her aged grandmother.”

Mikel’s form key to Egypt tie – Adepoju, Fuludu
Former Nigeria internationals, Mutiu Adepoju and
Edema Fuludu, have hailed the current form of Chelsea
midfielder, Mikel Obi, saying he would be key to
Nigeria’s pursuit of victory against Egypt in their
Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Mikel, who is in his 10th season at Chelsea, has
rediscovered his form since he returned to the starting
line-up of the English League champions under interim
coach Guus Hiddink. The 28-year-old scored his sixth
Chelsea goal in his 358th appearance on Tuesday in a
2-1 loss to Paris St. Germain in the UEFA Champions
League.
Nigeria will play Egypt on March 25 in Kaduna before
playing the return leg in Cairo and the former Super
Eagles players, who spoke with our correspondent in
separate interviews, believe that Mikel has achieved a
new level of confidence which would rub on his
performance for the Eagles.
Adepoju said, “Mikel has achieved a new level of
confidence in his game and it was what resulted in his
ability to take the responsibility for the team against
PSG. He saw himself as responsible for the
opponent’s first goal and fought well to get one back
for his team.

Manchester City ready to spurn FA Cup chance
Managers threatening to play a weakened
team in the FA Cup has become a familiar sound in
recent seasons and Manuel Pellegrini joined the
chorus ahead of Manchester City's fifth-round tie
away to Chelsea on Sunday.
At both ends of the Premier League, the financial
incentive to either qualify for the Champions League
or avoid relegation has led to many managers
drawing on their extended squads for FA Cup ties.
In fairness to Pellegrini, who was told at the start of
this month that he would be replaced as City
manager by Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola at
the end of the season, his FA Cup dilemma this
weekend is not of his own making.
The BBC, who are broadcasting City's Cup tie, have
had their request to get the game moved from
Saturday to Sunday accepted by the FA.
That means Pellegrini's men will be in action just a
day before they travel to Ukraine ahead of the first
leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against
Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday, with City bidding to
reach the quarter-finals of Europe's elite club
competition for the first time.
That fixture in turn takes place just four days before
City face Liverpool in the League Cup final at
Wembley a week on Sunday.

Two men to die by hanging for armed robbery in Lagos
An Ikeja High Court on Wednesday sentenced two
men — Seun Omoilodan and Gbenga Kayode — to
death by hanging for armed robbery.
Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye handed down the
judgment after finding the duo guilty of conspiracy
and armed robbery.
She said: “The defendants are hereby convicted
and sentenced to death by hanging for armed
robbery.
“On the third count of attempted robbery, the
defendants are sentenced to life imprisonment.”
Earlier, in his allocutus, counsel to Omoilodan and
Kayode, Mr Damola Victor, had appealed to the
court to temper justice with mercy.
“My Lord, kindly temper justice with mercy. The
defendants are first time offenders and have shown
remorse for their crimes.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the
convicts committed the offences on Nov. 2 and 9,
2011 at Ayangburen Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

We want competent replacements for sacked executives - says Nigerian Oil Workers
Nigerian oil workers, under the
aegis of Petroleum and Natural
Gas Senior Staff Association of
Nigeria, PENGASSAN, on
Wednesday applauded the
federal government for the
renewed effort to reorganize the
productive and extractive
industries.
Acting General Secretary of
PENGASSAN, Lumumba
Okugbawa, on Wednesday
commended the government’s
recent decision to review and
redraft the Petroleum Industry
Bill (PIB) for re-submission to
the National Assembly for
passage.
The PIB, which would provide
the legal and institutional
framework for the country’s oil
and gas sector, has been
pending before the National
Assembly for approval since
2012.
Mr. Okugbawa said the PIB,
when eventually passed into law
by the National Assembly, would
redefine the regulatory and
control apparatus of the oil and
gas industry and ensure that the
petroleum industry operated in
line with acceptable global
standards.
Lamenting the long delay in
passing the draft documents
into law, Mr. Okugbawa said the
absence of established laws
guiding aspects of the industry
operations has cost the country
huge losses, in terms of fresh
investments.
“The senior staff association
calls on the National Assembly
to expedite action on the
passage of the Petroleum
Industry Bill, PIB, as well as
reconsider global best practices
in maintaining two regulatory
agencies to superintend over the
upstream and downstream
sectors,” the PENGASSAN scribe
said.
On the government’s decision to
sack the Chief Executives for the
regulatory agencies in the petroleum
industry on Tuesday, Mr. Okugbawa called
for a “diligent search for suitable
replacements” to sustain the momentum of
progress in the industry reform process.
The Federal Government had on Tuesday
sacked the Chief Executives of the Petroleum
Technology Development Fund (PTDF);
Nigerian Content Development and
Monitoring Board (NCDMB); Petroleum
Equalization Fund (PEF), and Petroleum
Product Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA.

Shola Ameobi expresses Newcastle disappointment
Former Newcastle United striker Shola
Ameobi is disappointed to see the club struggling to
survive relegation in the English Premier League.
Newcastle are currently in 18th place on the log, with
just 24 points from 26 games.
They suffered a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of
Chelsea on Saturday after several defeats, a situation
that has now left the Nigeria international
disappointed.
"It's very disappointing as a fan. That's what I am,
first and foremost. I want to see my hometown do
well and it's obviously worrying times at the
moment,” he said on Eatsleep Football.
"But you've got to continue to have faith and belief
that the guys can pull it out of the bag. They've
certainly got the quality to be able to do that and I
just hope that's the case."
Ameobi, 34, is a product of the Newcastle youth set-
up and went on to play over 300 times for the senior
side during a 19-year stay. Last week, he penned a
deal with League One side Fleetwood Town.
IG issues order for Tompolo’s arrest
Inspector-General of Police Solomon Arase
has ordered the Commissioners of Police in Delta,
Rivers States to fish out ex-Niger Delta militant
,Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) from his
hideout.
Tompolo has been declared wanted by the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after a
court issued the warrant for his arrest.
Arase, who spoke in Abuja during a session with
journalists on Wednesday.said he has directed his
men to arrest Tompolo anywhere he was sighted.
He stated that since the EFCC has declared him
wanted through a court order, the police was duty
bound to apprehend him to face the charges against
him.
Tompolo, who is facing 40-count charge , is being
tried alongside the ex-Director General of Nigeria
Maritime Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick
Akpobolokemi, in connection with the alleged
diversion of a sum of N45.9 billion in the execution of
contracts .
Sacked DGs refuse to vacate offices
Five out of the 26 heads of government
agencies sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari
on Monday have refused to vacate their offices 48
hours after they were removed, reports Daily Trust.
The five have defied government’s directive asking
them to handover to the most senior officers in their
establishments pending the appointment of
substantive chief executives.
Their refusal to handover has led to serious crisis in
these organizations such that riot police had to be
called in to restore normalcy.
At the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory
Agency (PPPRA), Ahmed Farouk has not handed
over.
He has hinged his decision on the fact that there are
still things to be sorted out.
At the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the former DG,
Juliet Chukka-Onaeko, was yet to hand over as at
close of work on Wednesday.
Her refusal to handover has already created tension
in the agency with workers voicing concerns over the
uncertainty prevailing over the transition.
Groom dies on wedding day from celebratory gunfire
A groom was hit and killed by a
bullet apparently fired by celebrating members of
his wedding party in northern India, a local police
officer said Thursday.
Amit Rastogi, 28, was fatally struck late Wednesday
in Uttar Pradesh state while leading the party to his
bride s house, in the customary manner at Indian
weddings .
"He was hit by a bullet in the head apparently fired
by someone from the marriage party but we are
looking at other angles, including murder," Uma
Shankar Singh, the investigating officer in Sitapur
district where the incident occurred.
The officer said the groom, who fell from his horse
after being hit, was taken to hospital in the state
capital Lucknow where doctors declared him dead.
Although outlawed in India, celebratory firing at
weddings and other events is common in the
country, across South Asia and in other regions,
although fatalities are relatively few.
On Monday, a 14-year-old boy was killed after being
struck by a bullet at a wedding in neighbouring
Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.
In February, an eight-year-old boy was killed in
Shamli district when ruling political party workers
fired shots to celebrate their victory in municipal
elections.
Managing Messi a privilege - Luis Enrique
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique described the
fortune to have Lionel Messi on his side a 'privilege'
after the five-time World Player of the Year scored
his 300th La Liga goal.
Messi scored twice in a 3-1 win at Sporting Gijon on
Wednesday to take his tally to 301 league goals in
335 games as Barca extended their lead at the top
of the table to six points.
"To be able to count on Leo is always a privilege no
matter how the opponent plays," said Luis Enrique.
Barca are now heavy favourites to seal a fifth Liga
title in seven years with Atletico Madrid their closest
challengers and Real Madrid a further point adrift in
third.
"I am optimistic in any situation and this is a
favourable one," added Luis Enrique.
"But that doesn't mean anything because we all
know that when the final games of the season
approach, especially the last 10, the teams in trouble
begin to win games and it becomes very difficult to
take the points.
"We are where we want to be and we depend on
ourselves."
The only negative for the European champions was
another missed penalty, this time by Luis Suarez.
Messi had caused a worldwide sensation by passing
a spot-kick into Suarez's path to complete his hat-
trick in the 6-1 rout of Celta Vigo on Sunday.
However, between Messi, Suarez and Neymar, Barca
have now missed seven of their 15 directly taken
penalties this season.
It mattered little though, as Suarez made amends
with a terrific finish for his 40th goal of the season
23 minutes from time.
"We want to improve in that aspect, but those that
miss them are the ones that take the responsiblity to
hit them.
"We have confidence in Leo, Luis and Ney. They are
great penalty takers."
EFCC Interrogates Diezani’s husband
The Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday grilled Rear
Admiral Amaechina Alison-Madueke, husband of the
embattled former Minister of Petroleum Resources,
Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The former naval chief was picked up from his Abuja
residence for questioning.
Madueke was questioned for several hours by EFCC
operatives at the Abuja head office of the anti-graft
agency.
The interrogation of Madueke followed the discovery
of about $600 000 in his personal accounts.
Madueke made written statements to EFCC
interrogators and was allowed to go home.
He was also asked to return to the EFCC at a later
date to answer more questions.
The anti-graft agency, however, seized his travel
passport to restrict his movement to Nigeria, pending
the conclusion of its investigation.
Diezani, who is a cancer patient in London, has been
under intense probe by the present administration
over alleged high-scale illegal financial transactions
and money transfers in office.
She is also facing court trial in the United Kingdom
for a similar offence.
Catholic priests arraigned in Anambra over alleged fraud
Two Catholic priests have been apprehended
by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) after they allegedly attempted to swindle
people out of their money through a supposed
cement deal.
According to a Punch report, Reverend Fathers Silas
Nweke and E.C Obiorah, residing in Anambra, have
been arraigned on 35 counts bordering on obtaining
by false pretences.
The two men are alleged to have used the name of
Holy Family Group of Companies to gain large sums
of money through a cement deal some years ago.
Counsel for the first accused, Nwekem, urged the
jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter, revealing
that the case had been heard at the Court of Appeal
and the Supreme Court at different times.
The counsel for the second accused, Obiorah,
disclosed that a judgement had been made at a state
High Court regarding the matter.
Child killed in Uganda by suspected old grenade - Police
A child was killed and eight others
wounded Wednesday in Uganda when a suspected old
grenade detonated as they played football, police
said, insisting it was not a new bomb.
The blast in the capital Kampala came on the eve of
presidential and parliamentary polls on Thursday, but
no connection was made with the explosion and the
election.
The blast occurred next to a primary school, but also
opposite a former military barracks, and police said it
was possibly old ordnance that was set off when the
children discovered and played with it.
"A child aged around 12 years, who has been
identified as Sam Lukemba, was fatally wounded... as
a result of an explosion from an object suspected to
be a remnant of an explosive buried in the ground,"
Kampala police spokesman Fred Enanga said in a
statement.
"A team of bomb experts has responded and are
assessing the scene for more details."
Eight other children were "seriously injured" and had
been taken to hospital, he added, without giving
further details.
Defence spokesman Paddy Ankunda insisted there
had been "no bomb blast in Kampala" and that
"children playing football found a peculiar object that
exploded killing one."
Unexploded ordnance has been found in the country
before.
In 2011, anti-landmine activists in western Uganda
were stunned to discover a primary school using an
unexploded mortar bomb as a bell. It was then safely
detonated.
"We want to caution members of the public,
especially children, against playing or tampering with
objects they are not sure of," Enanga added.
Uganda has experienced several periods of violence
over the past decades including the guerrilla war that
brought President Yoweri Museveni to power in 1986
Music Review: Kanye West's "The Life of Pablo"
Some two decades ago, Prince re-named himself
with an unpronounceable symbol and scrawled
"SLAVE" on his cheek in a feud with Warner Bros
Records. He spent lavishly on unreleased creative
projects and he put out a video game. Then he sang
about sex, betrayal and a higher purpose on 1995's
"The Gold Experience," asking: "What's the use of
money if you ain't gonna break the mold?"
Wealth and singular pop chart success left an
eccentric, sometimes rude Midwestern musical
genius in his late 30s searching for a fresh challenge,
a new struggle.
Flash forward to Kanye West, who has poured his
creative energy and millions into an Adidas fashion
line. He made public appeals for help with an
ambitious string of non-music ventures. He wore a
full-face mask while performing for most of his
"Yeezus" concert tour. He worked on a video game.
And yes, he raps and sings on "The Life of Pablo,"
released online over the weekend, about sex, betrayal
and a higher purpose.
Like the music Prince released early in his symbol
phase, West's seventh solo album isn't as instantly
catchy or cohesive as his earlier work. But it's
consistently interesting and full of feeling, with off-
kilter hip-hop soundscapes and lyrics that pivot
suddenly from generous spirituality to crass insults.
Their tools are vastly different, of course: Where the
Purple One is famously self-contained, the Louis
Vuitton Don now creates like a Hollywood film
director, overseeing a massive team of writers,
producers and other collaborators all working to
realize his vision.
This 18-track collection feels impressively personal,
and warm, compared to the aggressively glitchy
"Yeezus," West's pre-fatherhood primal scream of an
album from three years ago. He repeatedly
references his family and reveals wryly humorous
self-awareness that's often missing in those famed
Twitter rants and TV appearances. "I guess I get
what I deserve, don't I?" he laments about an
absence of "Real Friends." On "Feedback," he
acknowledges, "I've been out of my mind a long
time." Rhyming as a fan at the album's halfway
point," West raps "I miss the old Kanye ... I hate the
new Kanye."
Among mainstream hip-hop artists, West stands out
for his commitment to continually evolving and
expanding both his own sound and the genre as a
whole. That's evident even in the weakest sections
of "Pablo." West sounds both rejuvenated and
challenged by young musicians like Chance the
Rapper and Future soundalike Desiigner, whose song
"Panda," released just months ago, is sampled
alongside a 1970s gospel recording on the dense
two-parter "Father Stretch My Hands."
West's calling card is smartly utilizing such
unexpected samples, from Arthur Russell's soulful
murmurs on the sublime "30 Hours" to the album-
opening snippet of a 4-year-old girl's boisterous
prayer, pulled from an Instagram post. A bassline
then gurgles abruptly under a soaring gospel choir
and praise-filled contributions from Chance, Kelly
Price and Kirk Franklin, while West declares "this is a
God dream."
That song, "Ultralight Beam," sets a high bar that the
rest of the album doesn't quite reach. Chris Brown
sings strongly over layers of ethereal vocals on
"Waves," but the tune doesn't go anywhere. West's
auto-tuned humming make the otherwise haunting
"Wolves" feel incomplete.
Compared to West's 2010 masterpiece "My Beautiful
Dark Twisted Fantasy," there's too much lyrical
sloppiness on "Pablo," possibly stemming from a
falling-out with longtime ghostwriter Rhymefest.
While West still delivers laugh-and-cringe one-liners
(that Taylor Swift dig on "Famous") and aspirational
exhortation ("Highlights"), he seems overly proud of
many run-of-the-mill couplets, repeating them for
emphasis but to no effect.
Still, "Pablo" finds our most provocative modern hip-
hop star evolving yet again, flexing his nerdy crate-
digging bona fides alongside tabloid-ready call-outs
and relentless ambition. He refuses to sell what's
already been sold.
Ronaldo, Jese on target as Real beat Roma
Cristiano Ronaldo hit his 90th Champions
League goal while second-half substitute Jese added
a late second as Real Madrid took a massive step
towards the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win at Roma on
Wednesday.
Real travelled to the Stadio Olimpico looking to
exorcise painful memories of losing 2-1 twice in
succession to the Giallorossi at this stage of the
competition in 2008.
After weathering a frustrating first half in which
Roma failed to finish off a series of promising
attacks, Ronaldo broke the deadlock on 57 minutes
when he ran on to Marcelo's chip to beat Wojciech
Szczesny with a shot that deflected off Alessandro
Florenzi.
It was the Portuguese forward's 12th goal in seven
Champions League games this term.
To their credit, Roma dug deep in a bid to claim a
share of the spoils and were unlucky not to earn a
penalty when Florenzi went down under the studs-up
challenge of Dani Carvajal.
Even after that decision, the hosts battled throughout
a dominant late spell inspired by Egyptian winger
Mohamed Salah, only to come up short.
It was inspiring stuff, but dozens of the 55,612 home
crowd began leaving their seats five minutes from
the finish when Jese flashed a shot across several
defenders to beat Szczesny low at his far post.
The victory gives Real a huge advantage ahead of
the return leg at their Santiago Bernabeu home in
three weeks time.
But Zinedine Zidane, who marked his full coaching
debut in the competition by rejoicing with his players
on the touchlines, called for caution.
"We're all happy because winning here wasn't easy
but we we're not through yet. We still have the
second leg to play," said the Frenchman, who was
assistant to Carlo Ancelotti when Real won their
historic 10th trophy in 2014.
"I'm happy for the way the lads played, especially
when we improved in the second half. Everyone
expects Ronaldo to score, and he fulfilled
expectations."

Dasuki accuses FG of delaying trial
Former National Security Adviser, Sambo
Dasuki, has said the Federal Government will have to
comply with an order of the Federal High Court
granting him bail before he faces trial.
Counsel to Dasuki, Joseph Daudu said the defence
counsel was not ready to proceed with the trial
because the Federal Government was still keeping
the accused person in detention, despite an order of
the court granting him bail.
In November 2015, Justice Adeniyi Ademola had
granted Dasuki bail but the Department of State
Services, DSS, rearrested him immediately after his
release from Kuje prison.
Counsel to the DSS, Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN), announced
to the court on Tuesday that the prosecution was
ready for trial to commence.
He argued that the prosecution was not stopping
Dasuki from enjoying his freedom, saying the
accused person was not allegedly held for the
charges before the court.
He, therefore, asked the court to reject the request
for adjournment and to commence trial. But the court
adjourned till March 3 for the hearing on a motion to
discharge Dasuki.

European games under Klopp and buoyed by
Sunday's thrashing of Aston Villa.

away tickets for the Liverpool game, which will be a
26,160 sell-out, with the return leg at Anfield on

Sheriff has been accused of having ties with the
Boko Haram insurgents.
Fani-Kayode who took to his Twitter handle
@realFFK to express his concern said: “Given
today’s events it is clear to me that, more than at
any other time in its 16 years in existence, the PDP
needs serious prayers.”

Kanye West demands the cost of education in US be cheaper
The 38-year-old rapper - who last weekend claimed he
owes $53 million in bills - has taken to Twitter to
demand education be made cheaper in America after
revealing one of his pals earns $370 a day but has to
fork out $400 for one school text book for her child.
West - who has two children, daughter North, two, and
two-month-old son Saint with wife Kim Kardashian
West - wrote in a Twitter rant: ''I have a friend who
works really hard and makes $370 dollars a day... ''Her
son just got in a really good school and his textbooks
are like $400 dollars each ... ''I mean, his mom has to
work 2 days just to afford 1 book for her son ... ''she's
giving everything she has to make sure her son has a
better future...
''Steve Jobs wanted to lower the cost of textbooks...
''Education puts Americans into debt before they even
get a chance to get started... ''We have to lower the
price of textbooks... ''I'd rather teachers got paid more
and books cost less ... #2020 (sic)''
West's 2020 hashtag appears to be a reference to his
previously announced plans to run for President of the
United States in four years. West made the
announcement at the MTV Video Music Awards last
year, and shortly afterwards current President Barack
Obama gave him a few words of advice.
Appearing to refer to West's reality TV star wife Kim,
he said: ''In case Kanye's serious about this whole
POTUS thing, or as he calls it, Peezy, I do have advice
for him; ''You've got to deal with strange characters
who behave as if they are on a reality TV show. So
you've got to be cool with that.''

Peter Okoye wants older brother fired
Yesterday night (February 16) pop star Peter
Okoye took to Twitter and stated that he wants
his older brother Jude Okoye fired from
managing Psquare.
In a series of tweets from the 34-year-old he
ranted against his older brother and manager
Jude Okoye while remaining loyal to his brother
and singing partner Paul Okoye.
" I don't have a problem with Paul but the management "
tweeted Peter Okoye » . " My loyalty for psquare and
the fans still remains 100% " he stated before adding " A
manager is been employed by the artiste not the other
way round. #truthBeTold. "
The relationship between the brothers Peter Okoye and
Jude Okoye has broken down to the extent that the
singer tweeted a disclaimer stating that whoever does
business with North Side Entertainment on behalf of
Psquare is at his or her own risk.
" Pls who so ever makes any transaction with Northside
Entertainment or Jude Okoye on Psquare's behalf does
so at their on risk. #warning. " If you are still doubting
that Peter Okoye is fed up of Jude Okoye the pop star
also tweeted this about the family run business " Family
business can be pain in the a$$. "
Read Peter Okoye's tweets below;
Jude Okoye and Paul Okoye have not reacted or
responded to Peter Okoye's rant last night.
Jude Okoye has been the manager of Psquare since
the group came into existence. On his Instagram page
Jude Okoye's bio reads " President/C.E.O Northside Inc.
Managers of Psquare & Cynthia Morgan . "
This is the second time in two years that the Psquare
brand has been involved in a public rift of sorts. In
April, 2014 there were strong rumours that Peter
Okoye and Paul Okoye had split » .
It was reported that Peter Okoye refused to do
anything with Psquare because he reportedly felt his
input and contributions were not being seriously
considered. Some reports went as far as saying that a
lawyer had been summoned to split the Psquare
fortune into two so that Peter Okoye could walk away.
Cooler heads prevailed and the twins were persuaded
be one again. They released their sixth studio album
'Double Trouble' after the split fiasco.
Boko Haram Attacks Madagali, Kills 6, Burn Down Houses
Boko Haram terrorists have killed no less than
six persons in Kuda village of Madagali Local
Government Area of Adamawa State.
They also razed down more than 20 houses in
the latest attack.
The violent extremists stormed the village at
9pm on Monday, shooting at fleeing villagers,
thus killing five persons and injuring several
others.
The head of Krichinga, Abubakar Kanuri, whose
village is close to Kuda village, said the
insurgents came through Malakwaya, a section
of the Sambisa Forest.
He said the reports he got was that over 30
armed insurgents stormed Kuda village. The
village head, however, said he had yet to learn
the exact casualty figure.
“But I know that one old woman was burnt to
ashes because she couldn’t flee her home when
the insurgents set her house ablaze,”
“Today, they will invade our villages as rustlers,
another day they stormed our villages in convoy
of vehicles and some time they will use cattle to
deceive us that they are normal herdsmen only
to start killing people.”
“We need help in our area. Many are beginning
to return but with current security situation, they
may not return to these areas.
“These crazy boys are still hiding in caves inside
Sambisa Forest”, Kanuri said.
Kanuri said the military in company with some
local vigilante members and hunters drafted to
fight the insurgents pursued the insurgents into
Sambisa Forest.
Boutros Boutros-Ghali, first UN chief from Africa, dies
Boutros Boutros-Ghali, a veteran Egyptian
diplomat who helped negotiate his country's
landmark peace deal with Israel but then clashed
with the United States when he served a single term
as U.N. secretary-general, died Tuesday. He was 93.
Boutros-Ghali, the scion of a prominent Egyptian
Christian political family, was the first U.N. chief
from the African continent. He stepped into the post
in 1992 at a time of dramatic world changes, with the
collapse of the Soviet Union, the end of the Cold War
and the beginning of a unipolar era dominated by the
United States.
His five years at the helm remain controversial. He
worked to establish the U.N.'s independence,
particularly from the United States, at a time when
the world body was increasingly called on to step
into crises with peacekeeping forces, with limited
resources. Some blame him for misjudgments in the
failures to prevent genocides in Africa and the
Balkans and mismanagement of reform in the world
body.
After years of frictions with the Clinton
administration, the United States blocked his renewal
in the post in 1996, making him the only U.N.
secretary-general to serve a single term. He was
replaced by Ghanaian Kofi Annan.
Stop blaming APC for the economic challenges - Dogara
Yakubu Dogara, Speaker, House of
Representatives, has called on the critics of the All
Progressives Congress-led administration to stop
blaming the government for the current economic
challenges facing Nigeria.
Dogara made the call in a statement signed by Turaki
Hassan, his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs
and issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.
The statement said Dogara made the statement
when he received unemployed Aeronautic Engineers
and Pilots from Bauchi State who paid him a courtesy
visit.
He said that instead of the blaming the APC-led
government, the people who brought Nigeria to its
current state should be blamed.
Dogara said that the Buhari-led government was
working hard to sanitise the system, adding that it
would take some time to achieve the objective.
"You know that we are facing challenges in the
country at the moment."
"Even though people do not want to talk about on the
ground that we campaigned that we are going to fix
the country," he said.
"We have sowed in the wind and we are now reaping
whirlwind and as long as the earth abides, there will
be seed time and harvest time."
"We do not want to dwell in the past, we are facing
the future," he said.

Japanese actor killed by prop samurai sword
A Japanese play rehearsal took a tragic turn
Monday, when an actor was stabbed in the stomach
with a samurai sword.
33-year old Daigo Kashino was rushed to hospital
where he later died.
The actor was in a rehearsal session at a studio in
Koto, Tokyo, when he was pierced in the abdomen
"with a sword-like object" during an action scene.
The other actors reportedly heard him groan and
turned to discover him hunched over but no one saw
exactly what happened.
Police are now investigating whether his death was an
accident or a criminal act.
Govt. claims "no resurgence of Boko Haram"
The Federal Government has claimed that
there has been no resurgence of Boko Haram
militants despite a spate of recent attacks in the
country.
According to a report by Premium Times , Lai
Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture,
made the comment while addressing a press
conference in Abuja.
According to Mohammed, the attacks do not indicate
a resurgence of the group but are instead in line with
what he has described as the "ebb and flow of
insurgency".
Mohammed condemned the recent attacks,
commiserating with all those affected and warning
the public against utterances regarding territories
controlled by the Islamist sect.
In addition, Mohammed urged Nigerians to lend their
support to the military in its fight against terrorism in
the country.
When questioned about the Government's role in
fighting the insurgency, Mohammed revealed that
appropriate measures are in place, citing global best
practice as the protocol that will be followed when
dealing with the extremists.
1 Killed in violence ahead of presidential polls In UGANDA
An opposition supporter was fatally shot
Monday in clashes with the police during a campaign
event in the capital, the police and a presidential
candidate said Tuesday, raising concern over the role
of the security forces in tight presidential elections
Thursday.
Police spokesman Fred Enanga confirmed Tuesday
that one civilian was killed in scuffles and that the
police fired rubber bullets to disperse supporters of
presidential candidate Kizza Besigye.
Besigye, in a close race with long-time Ugandan
President Yoweri Museveni, said Tuesday he does not
believe the election will be free and fair, and urged
his supporters to defy any illegal orders by the
authorities.
One such order is a ban on carrying mobile phones to
polling stations, a decree that some worry would
hamper efforts to promote transparency during the
elections. Besigye is urging his supporters to protect
their votes at the polling stations, while the country's
election commission has been encouraging voters to
vote and then return home. Besigye's supporters say
those with smartphones, for example, might be able
to record any illegal or inappropriate events at polling
stations.
Eduard Kukan, who is leading election monitors from
the European Union, told reporters Tuesday that he
would raise concerns with the election commission,
including over the voters' register.
Museveni, who took power by force three decades
ago, has said the military will "smash" those who
threaten national security. That amounts to
intimidation, according to Besigye, a retired army
colonel who served as deputy interior minister in
Museveni's first Cabinet. Besigye broke ranks with
the government in 2000, citing the lack of democracy
within the ruling party.
"Our people spoke with one voice and gave a simple
message that they want change," Besigye told
reporters Tuesday. "That was a very strong and
direct message everywhere we went."

removed from the scene through the help of a
commercial bus.

50 Cent calls out Australian boxer Billy Dib, branding him as an ‘ungrateful fighter’
Rapper 50 Cent has attacked Australian boxer Billy
Dib, labelling the boxer ‘ungrateful’ and claiming TV
network HBO deemed him ‘unwatchable’ after Dib
publicly accused the rapper of owing him $1m.
According to Dailymail, Dib was one of 50 Cent’s first
clients when he launched a boxing promotions
company in July 2012, however their
relationship turned sour when the business went
bankrupt and the Australian claimed he was owed
more than $1m.
Dib, whose wife Sara died from cancer last September,
will make his return to the ring against Thailand’s
Sukkasem Kietyongyuth in a super-featherweight bout
on February 26 at Sydney’s Emporium Function Centre.
In the lead-up to his return to fighting later this month,
the former IBF world champion labelled the venture
with the rapper his ‘worst career move’, prompting 50
Cent – born Curtis James Jackson III – to hit back via
Instagram.
Actress' Instagram post draws attention of authorities
A heart carved into red rock is
drawing the attention of authorities in Arizona who are
investigating to see if actress Vanessa Hudgens is the
culprit.
Hudgens posted a photo of the carving, bearing the
names Vanessa and Austin, on her Instagram page
Sunday but later removed it. Other photos with the
hash tag "sedonadreams" still appeared on the site
Tuesday.
The media brought the photo to the attention of the
Coconino National Forest, which manages land around
Sedona renowned for the towering red rocks,
spokesman Brady Smith said. Authorities are
investigating the incident, he said Tuesday.
A representative for Hudgens, 27, did not immediately
respond to messages left by The Associated Press.
Hudgens recently appeared on Fox's live production of
"Grease." She's best known for her role as Gabriella
Montez in the "High School Musical" television show
and movie
Smith said he isn't sure whether law enforcement has
located a heart that matches the one posted by
Hudgens within the forest's 250 square-mile Red Rock
Ranger District. Authorities will be researching social
media posts and trying to contact any witnesses, he
said.
Damaging a natural feature on U.S. Forest Service land
is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail
and a maximum $5,000 fine. Smith said he's unaware
of any signs in the district to inform people of the law.
Forest officials try to maintain the natural beauty of
the area, he said.
"People make mistakes whether knowingly or
unknowingly," Smith said.
Woman Delivers Quintuplets in Ibadan, Husband Seeks aid from Govt
Mr. Yusuf Rasaq Ewenje, whose 28-year-old wife (sakirat)
delivered five babies at once at exactly 8.45 am on Monday
was delivered at the Oyo State special care baby unit in
University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The couple, which resides at No 23, Akeem Street,
Ijokodo, Ibadan, already has two children, a boy and a
girl.
Although Rasaq said he was happy and was aware of
the arrival of the children, he appealed to the governor
of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, his wife,
Florence, and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to
the family’s aid.
He said he had exhausted the little amount he had in
his savings, considering the enormity of the birth and
“the fact that I am a full time cleric who only makes
little from the Quranic lessons that I teach”.
Rasaq is hopeful that all his children grow up hale and
hearty and become leaders of tomorrow.
“My dream is for them to be leaders in this country, so
that no matter my present situation, people will know
them not only as good ambassadors of the family but
the society at large.
“Though I am greatly handicapped now because I only
make a living from my Quranic teaching class, I am
appealing to well-meaning people to come to my aid.
“I am using this medium to appeal to the governor of
the state, his wife, Florence, Minister of Health,
Professor Isaac Adewole, and the federal government
to come to my aid so that my joy won’t be short-
lived,” he said
PSG's Cavani shows his worth with winner against Chelsea
Paris St Germain substitute
Edinson Cavani, criticised by French media
lacking composure in front of goal,
responded in style to earn a 2-1 home win over
Chelsea in their Champions League last-16 first leg on
Tuesday.
The Uruguay forward, who has scored only once in
Ligue 1 this year, fired a low angled shot past
goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the 78th minute after
John Obi Mikel had cancelled out Zlatan Ibrahimovic's
opener at the end of the first half.
That did not surprise PSG coach Laurent Blanc, who
brought Cavani on for Lucas four minutes before he
got the winner.
“I’m not just saying it because he scored tonight, I
always say it, Eddy is a player who can score,” Blanc
told a news conference. “He was going through a
tough period so I hope it will give him his confidence
back.”
PSG knocked Chelsea out on away goals at the same
stage last year after the Blues had prevailed the
previous season in the quarter-finals and have the
edge going into the second leg.
It was Chelsea's first defeat in 13 games since
Dutchman Guus Hiddink took over from the sacked
Jose Mourinho but they will fancy their chances at
Stamford Bridge on March 9.
With Chelsea's inspirational captain John Terry ruled
out with a hamstring injury, Branislav Ivanovic moved
from full back to central defence and wore the
skipper’s armband.
Marco Verratti started for PSG having only just
recovered from a groin injury, while Blanc chose to
field Marquinhos on the right side of defence in place
of the Serge Aurier, who has been suspended for
insulting Blanc and several team mates.
Chelsea had the best chance midway through the first
half when striker Diego Costa’s point-blank header was
instinctively palmed on to the bar by PSG keeper
Kevin Trapp.
Ibrahimovic, who was sent off in London last year and
picked up a yellow card on Tuesday, broke the
deadlock six minutes before halftime with a low free
kick deflected past Courtois by the heel of Obi Mikel,
who had fouled Brazilian Lucas.
But Chelsea hit back just before the interval when
Costa deflected a corner into the path of Mikel, who
controlled the ball before firing home his first goal in
14 months.
Lucas was replaced in the 74th minute by Cavani who
had an immediate impact, collecting Angel Di Maria’s
perfect pass on the right and scoring with a low shot
through Courtois's legs.
