Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench on Sunday to
score for Manchester City in a top English Premier
League contest, but the goal was not enough to
secure the high-spending team a win over Tottenham
Hotspur or even secure them a draw. Spurs won the
match played at the Etihad Stadium 2-1 to move to
second place on the table behind Leicester while
dimming the chances of the Manchester team of
laying their hands on the trophy.
The goal from the young Nigerian had brought back
City into the game in the 74th minute but Tottenham
asserted their title credentials and dealt a blow to
City’s hopes as Christian Eriksen’s late strike sealed
the victory.
“I’m disappointed because I thought we were better
than Tottenham, really they didn’t have any chances to
score until the end when we took more risks, we lost
the ball and they scored the second goal,” City
manager Manuel Pellegrini told Sky Sports.
