Judge arrested for drunk driving in New York

A New York judge was busted for drunk driving on her
way to court in Rochester.
According to Monroe County District Attorney Sandra
Doorley, Astacio, 34, was ticketed by New York State
Police traveling on Interstate 490 near the Mt. Read
Boulevard exit about 8am on Saturday, the Democrat
and Chronicle reported.
The report also said her vehicle appeared to be
damaged in what may have been a one-car crash
The Rochester judge refused to take a Breathalyzer
test and was charged with misdemeanor driving while
intoxicated.
According to the report, Astacio had previously worked
in drunk driving bureau of the the Monroe County DA’s
office before being elected as judge two years ago.
The judge had also worked as a defense lawyer before
her election.
She was to preside over criminal court arraignments in
Rochester, but instead she found herself with an
appearance ticket. She will appear in court next
month.
Another judge was called in her place following her
arrest.
